Content You Create

When you use Tempo, you create content that we store, including:

  • Song and album ratings and descriptions
  • Comments and replies on ratings, songs, albums, and lists

Information Collected Automatically

We automatically collect certain information when you use the App:

  • Usage data: Actions you take in the App (e.g., ratings submitted, screens viewed, search interactions, follow/unfollow events, tag submissions). We do not collect the text content of your comments or your exact search queries — only query length.
  • Technical data: Device type and operating system information.
  • Error data: Crash reports and stack traces, which may include device metadata, collected via Sentry.
  • Push notification token: Used to deliver notifications; cleared from our systems when you sign out.

  • Apple Music / Media Library: To detect the song currently playing on your device.
  • Photo Library: To set your profile picture or list cover images.
  • Contacts: To help you find friends already on Tempo by matching phone numbers. Only requested if you opt into friend discovery during onboarding. Contact phone numbers are sent to Tempo's servers for matching only and are not stored or shared with other users.
  • Push Notifications: To deliver social activity alerts. You can toggle individual notification types in Settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your Tempo account
  • Provide, operate, and improve the App and its features
  • Enable social features including activity feeds, follows, comments, and friend discovery
  • Deliver push notifications for social activity (follows, likes, comments, mentions, replies, and song discoveries)
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the product (via Mixpanel; for internal use only — not for advertising)
  • Monitor errors and crashes to maintain App stability (via Sentry)
  • Enforce our content moderation policies and respond to user reports
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

With Other Users

Your profile (username, profile photo, bio), ratings, comments, lists, and other public activity are visible to other Tempo users as part of the core social experience.

With Service Providers

We share data with third-party service providers that help us operate Tempo:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. All user data is hosted on AWS US-East-1.
  • Expo / EAS — app build infrastructure and push notification delivery. Push tokens and notification payloads are shared.
  • Apple MusicKit API — music catalog search. Search query strings are sent to Apple; no user identity is shared.
  • Mixpanel — behavioral analytics. Behavioral events are always collected. If you have consented to analytics, your user ID, username, and email are also linked to these events for user-level analysis. This data is used solely for internal product analytics and is not used for advertising.
  • Sentry — crash and error monitoring. Crash data and device information may be shared. User identity is not explicitly linked to Sentry error reports.
  • Apple Music / Spotify — deep-link integrations for streaming. Only the URL is passed; no user identity is shared.

For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities. We may also disclose information to protect the rights, property, or safety of Gravity Ventures LLC, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

If Gravity Ventures LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

Tempo does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored on Supabase's PostgreSQL infrastructure hosted on AWS US-East-1 (United States). Profile photos and list cover images are stored in Supabase Storage. Passwords are hashed and managed by Supabase Auth.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. If you delete your account:

  • Your profile and all user-generated content (ratings, comments, posts, lists, rotation entries, follows, likes, etc.) are deleted immediately.
  • A 30-day grace period begins, during which you can restore your account by logging back in.
  • After 30 days, deletion is permanent and irreversible.

We may retain certain data longer if required to comply with legal obligations or to resolve disputes.

5. Your Privacy Rights

All Users

You may update, correct, or delete your account information at any time through Account Settings in the App. You may also email us at natevds44@gmail.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.

California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: You may request information about the personal data we collect and how it is used.
  • Right to Access: You may request a copy of the specific personal data we have collected about you.
  • Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal data by emailing us at natevds44@gmail.com.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: Exercising your CCPA rights will not result in discriminatory treatment.
  • Sales/Sharing Opt-Out: We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes. No opt-out is required.

European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your data, as well as the right to object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at natevds44@gmail.com.

6. Children's Privacy

Tempo is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at natevds44@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

7. Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously and use commercially reasonable measures to protect it, including encrypted data transmission, hashed password storage, and row-level security controls on our database. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Analytics and Tracking

We use Mixpanel to collect behavioral analytics about how you use the App. Behavioral events (such as screen views, feature interactions, and in-app actions) are always collected in anonymous form. We do not track the text content of your comments or your exact search queries — only query length.

If you consented to analytics during signup, or have enabled the analytics toggle in Account Settings → Privacy & Safety, your user ID, username, and email are additionally linked to these events in Mixpanel. You can withdraw this consent at any time by toggling off "Share Usage Analytics" in Account Settings → Privacy & Safety.

9. Third-Party Services

Tempo integrates with third-party services that have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them:

10. Content Moderation

Tempo uses an automated filter that scans user-generated text (including comments and bios) and blocks content containing hate speech. Users may also report content or other users for spam, harassment, inappropriate content, or inappropriate images. Reports are stored and reviewed manually. Users can block other users at any time.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via email or a prominent in-app notice prior to the change taking effect. Your continued use of Tempo after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy or your use of Tempo will be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), rather than in court. You and Gravity Ventures LLC each waive the right to a trial by jury and the right to participate in a class action.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
